Hi
.... I'm TREACLE

23rd May 1998
Hi there, my name is Treacle. I guess you could call me a cyberkitten
as I now have my own page. I am about 9 weeks old. I do not really
know where I was for the first 8 weeks of my life, but 8 days ago
on a Thursday night, I somehow managed to find myself in the boot
of Dave's taxi. I cannot even tell you how I got in there
but, it was lonely and dark. At 9 am on Friday Dave opened
up the car boot and there I was, waiting for him.
I was forcefully taken out of the boot of the car into what they
call a home. That is a big place for a kitten like myself. But then
the person that found me actually left me alone with a strange woman
(she turned out to be OK) and even let me use her lap as a bed to
sleep on. When the man came back he brought food for me! I think
I might stay here. Oh how glad I am to have Mags and Dave to look
after.
I could not believe my ears - the Mags was actually calling somebody
to report me as being found - well, I will not be found. I am quite
happy here. I knew that after being here for only a couple of hours.
What
did these humans do to me on Saturday morning? It was awful. They
took me to see the vet, I don't know why, I am perfectly healthy.
Oh what a bad experience that was let me tell you! The rough handling
of the vet was not too bad, I did tell him to be carefull once or
twice, but when he took my temperature - let me tell you, it was
PAINFULL.
Ok, so living with these humans has been fun and I have taught them
a thing or two myself. I help my mistress with studying and typing
whenever possible. I can even type at 40 words a minute now. I just
like to keep her occupied, sitting on her lap whilst she is trying
to work and type, don't they realise I do NOT like to sit alone.
I wonder what that beeping noise is when I help her, it usually
happens when I try to catch that cursor thing on the screen and
step on the keyboard? Oh well, perhaps if you know you could send
me one of those e-mail things.
Dave likes to play in the mornings. One word from him and I do what
I like - haha. I usually have to start the game by pretending his
toes are to be caught. Why does he keep hiding them then? He likes
to see me play with the toys, rolled up paper and a toy (yep, really)
a toy mouse (as if I wouldn't know the difference!) He even bought
me a dog's toy, a hedgehog - I am sure I have heard it talking to
me once or twice, but no matter how hard I pounce on it, it will
not talk to me.
I
have learnt some human words, for instance, my name is Treacle and
if I want to, I will respond to my name being called. But the words
"NO" and "DOWN" are bad words, usually yelled
to me by Mags. I quite often do bad things to make her use these
words as it results in her standing up and either taking me off
the furniture or looking at me nicely whilst saying "down".
Oh its so easy to get the attention I want! She is not really mad
with me because 2 seconds after she sits down, I am allowed to sit
with her.
Because
I am still small I can do almost anything - running at top speed
from room to room and using (almost) all the furniture. I think
I found very nice humans to look after. It could have been worse
as it was a very hot day on Friday when Dave found me and in the
boot of the car I would not have lasted very long at all.
30th May 1998
Well, its been 8 days since I arrived here and today I got David
and Mags to take photographs of me. They will be ready on Tuesday.
Does
anyone out there know why they don't want me sitting on them ALL
the time, if they put me on the floor, I just go back to them. I
will keep you updated as to how to train humans and if you have
any tips for me, please e-mail me or leave a message in the family
guest book.
2nd June 1998
They
did it again! I went to see the vet again! I don't like that, so
I make Mags and Dave feel really unconfortable in the car by making
as much noise as possible. Mmmeeooouuuuwwww. At least the vet knew
why I was limping and had been quiet the last couple of days, it
was only a sprained elbow - I must remember to retract my claws
.... Well, the vet gave me an injection and I now feel myself again
... no time to write any more .... must get back to playing - jumping
on Magsie's back whilst she is typing is great fun - I just want
to sit on her shoulder and watch the words being created. Be good
and take care out there cats!
Note added 6th March 1999 - It's a real pain trying to get into
the car or even park the car without Treacle. She feels as though
she has to see us off all the time, but trying to get the car parked
is a real pain. Its easier for us to open the window and let her
climb inside whilst parking! She loves that!
9th June 1998
Well, I have been outside twice now. I don't really want to go too
far yet because there are too many of those little humans around
and I am not sure about them yet. Just because I am a cat Mags and
Dave have tried to feed me a bit of raw meat (steak I think), anyway,
why would I be interested in that? If am am to eat the same food
as them, it will be off their plates and cooked in the same way!
Here
I am checking out my webpages - I like to help Mags whilst she is
working on the 'puter - gets her used to typing one-handed most
of the time as she thinks I am going to fall off her lap!
30th June 1998
Oh
.. going outside is "old hat" now. I can go out quite
often now, but I still do not like to go out very far on my own.
I have had most of my injections now but have got what they call
ear mites. I don't know how I managed to catch them, but every night
for 3 weeks Mags has to put drops into my ears - I don't worry about
that now, I must be getting used to it. Oh, you see the dried plant
things in the picture above? Well, they have now all been thrown
out because they said I made too much mess with them ... spreading
them everywhere - I wonder what I am going to make my next project.
And I do NOT like Mags' laptop ... doesn't she realise she could
have me on her lap instead of that box thing. I still like to help
her type you know, and think I am even getting better!
Dave
and I play a lot of chase games - I like to pretend I am scared
and running away, then pounce out onto what he calls "toes".
I can even arch my back now really high, so one day he will really
be afraid of how big I am getting!
28th August 1998 (Friday)
Oh ... what day .... WHAT have they done to me??? The day started
off strange - both Mags and Dave were showered and ready to go out
before 07:45 (highly unusual). At 08:00 they left the house taking
me with them, I knew it was either to see Gazzy or to see the vet
(I don't know why as I am perfectly healthy) - BUT ... the vet's
it was. Just what did they do to me there I don't know. Mags and
Dave collected me at 1 p.m
Just
look at the picture! .... the things I go through living here!
That says it all. That silly collar thing and being BALD .... its
just too much for a cool cat (or should I say cold cat) like me.
I came back from the vet's and could not really do anything apart
from sleep on Mags for about 2 days - then I let them feel really
bad ... attacking their moving hands with intent (they still have
the scars *s*). This has been the worst time in my life and am making
sure that both Mags and Dave know it too.
7th September 1998 (Monday)
Oh .... Oh .... Oh ......... my word ... what a happy cat am I.
They took me THERE again. I was really afraid this time - but, Mags
held on to me real tight whilst my stitches were taken out. I could
not believe it - they took me home and Dave even let me see him
cutting up that silly collar so I would know that it had been destroyed
--- hhooorrahhhh. I am FREE .... and can get back to normal (whatever
that is).
12th
September 1998 (Saturday)
WELL - why did they not show me this last night? Dave fitted in
a catflap to the door - this means I can come and go as I want.
I now have total FREEDOM.
Why
do they keep checking up on me whilst I am having a great time outside?
I even tried to catch a couple of bats - yep we do have them here,
one day I might actually catch one of them (Mags doubts that though).
This is the very latest picture (taken only this morning), I was
just so happy with everything, I stuck my tongue out. I am growing
back my fur again but am afraid that will take some time, but don't
worry - I don't mind if you don't.
21st February 1999 (Sunday)
Well,
its been quite some time since the last entry (some diary!) - but
things are pretty quiet around here, not much happens these days.
Just looking at the last entry there, I have not yet managed to
catch any bats (not through want of trying) but I have managed to
catch several birds and even brought them into the house where they
make a lot of noise. For some reason Dave catches them and takes
them outside. Last Thursday night I even contributed towards the
larder, I brought in a mouse!! I have turned out to be the best
fed cat in the neighbourhood, I eat mostly chicken and last night,
I tried some local sprats (small fish) which were rather tasty.
Dave spent at least an hour removing the bones for me. That's the
way to train humans - don't eat the tinned stuff, they will soon
decide its cheaper to buy chicken and fresh fish! But why is it
always David who gives me the fish (that takes ages to de-bone)
or chicken (which has the bones removed)?! Take care ....
I
think this will be the last update I will be allowed to make for
some now as Mags is going back to her studies. Take care all and
be good out there.
13th
February 2000 (Sunday)
Hi
again cool cats. Life is good - no major problems have been experienced,
oh that is except for on boxing day when I had to be taken to the
vet. The vet thought I might have broken my left rear paw so he
put it in bandages (which was painful) but when he checked it again
on the following Wednesday, it seemed to be fine and not broken
at all. Does it really cost a lot of money to take me to see the
vet on a bank holiday?
I
still keep catching those mice and the occasional bird! I do not
think it is appreciated at 4:00 a.m. in the morning. Oh well, the
only thing I can do is keep trying. Bye for now ~~~~

November 2003
Its
been like years since I have written - but there have not been many
major changes in my life. I have to go to the vet once in
a while - I invite other neighbourhood cats in to share my food
- just as long as they don't want to get any closer! Well
... except my best friend William who is a lovely ginger cat.
He is allowed in as long I as I can slap - we can even share the
same couch - different ends of course. I have other friends
who come in too, a black cat, a grey tabby and only just this year
I have met the next door neighbour - he is allowed to visit, but
I don't know him that well yet. But as long as he knows I'm
boss cat around here, he will be fine!
31st
August 2004
Oh
well - just as I start to get to know the new tom on the block he up
and leaves and decides to stay with his owner - leaving the
area. The summer is beginning to come to an end, which means
that my owners will start to close windows during the evening now
too - don't they realise just how handy it is to have windows open
for me? I continue to stop them going on walks and leaving me
at home, alone when I can! Why can't I go on walks with them?
See
you later cats ....
