04/11/2004: "Kensington Gardens"

I have many fond memories of what Kensington Gardens used to be like. Many benches to sit on around the park and around the water, the fish in the water (instead of the algae), standing on the wooden bridge and counting the fish and throwing in the odd penny to make a wish. Having a wander round to look at the birds - haaa the days of innocence.

Yet again it seems that due to lack of maintenance/repair - many of these delightful features no longer exist. I took a picture the other evening, which could, with a bit of imagination, remind you of the fairy tale and lovely place it once was ......

Oh ... also take a quick look at the boating pond on the picture below (I'll try to capture this on my brother's new camera which can take video). This pond is going to be removed and will make way for a brand new bandstand in its place.

It isn't just the council, the majority of people in Lowestoft no longer take an interest! Some great places have been neglected or lost due to people sitting on their backsides and not putting up a fight. I have lived in Lowestoft all my life and can't believe the mentality the people who live here have. If you want nice things and a clean, happy environment to live in. Look After It in the First Place!

Oi -- its not all a slum land - Lowestoft has a lot of potential, but its all wasted as the council don't really seem that interested in preserving or maintaining anything that is good.
